Franklin & Paulo — Copenhagen City Hall Wedding
Franklin and Paulo got ready at NH Collection Hotel on a November morning. The sun showed up anyway.
The hotel sits right beside the canal with views across to the city center — not too far from Copenhagen City Hall, close enough to take the harbour bus (havnebus) from the front door straight across to Rådhuset. Their corner room had windows on both sides, bright even in November, perfect for the getting-ready part of the day. It was a really intimate and cozy moment they had together before the ceremony. Two grooms, one hotel room, the kind of quiet you get right before your wedding starts.
Their Copenhagen City Hall ceremony brought together friends from France, Italy, and beyond — the kind of group where three languages mix in the same conversation and no one switches off. After they signed the papers at Rådhuset, we walked to Oscar Cafe, two minutes away, for smørrebrød and Prosecco. Traditional Danish open sandwiches, a bottle of something cold, two grooms who'd just gotten married in a city that wasn't theirs — and felt completely at home in it.
The whole day had an easy warmth to it. The kind you only get when people who actually care about each other show up in the same place at the same time. Two hours with me, November light that had no business being that good, and a group of friends who flew in to witness it.
